The Ministry of Education's "Arts and Wisdom - 114 Academic Year Teacher Training and Cooperation University Cross-domain Aesthetics Results Presentation" was held on June 6, 2015 at the Guling Street Small Theater Art and Culture Space, inviting teacher training committee members from 18 teacher training cooperation universities across Taiwan to participate in the event. The presentation presented the practical results and abundant energy of cross-domain aesthetic education through course experience sharing, results document exhibition, roundtable forum and literary reading. Director Wu Xiaoxia of the Ministry of Education's Teacher Training and Art Education Department and Professor Zhuang Liandong, Dean of the College of Arts at National Taiwan Normal University, were both present at the scene, demonstrating their high attention to aesthetic education.
Director Wu Xiaoxia said in her speech that cross-disciplinary aesthetic education has been promoted for more than ten years, from taking root, cultivating to the current stage of spreading, and has produced fruitful results. The efforts of every teacher present are an important cornerstone for aesthetic education to take root. Currently, teachers in the teaching field are under a lot of pressure and challenges. We hope that through the exchange of plans, "aesthetics" will become an important energy to support teachers and students.
The Ministry of Education's "Cross-disciplinary Aesthetic Education Excellence Pilot Program" has been continuously inviting teacher training and partner universities to join since 2018, successfully extending aesthetic education to the teacher training stage. The teacher training team not only plays an important role in promoting aesthetic courses in primary and secondary schools, but also actively participates in curriculum development, teacher empowerment, and practical collaboration in teaching sites. To date, a total of 141 teachers and 95 schools have participated. Through the joint preparation and learning of teacher trainees and current teachers, future teachers with cross-disciplinary integration capabilities and artistic literacy are gradually shaped, injecting new vitality into Taiwan's education.
The project leader, Professor Zhao Huiling of National Taiwan Normal University, mentioned that June is the time when the Taiwan Aesthetic Education Project will bear fruit. The schools and teachers participating in the cross-domain aesthetic education project in various counties and cities have successively published the results of the curriculum practice, gradually accumulating fruitful results for Taiwan's cross-domain aesthetic education. Dean Zhuang Liandong also expressed his gratitude to the cross-domain aesthetic education project for bringing forward-looking concepts and practical cases to teachers at the teaching site, so that the development direction of cross-domain aesthetic education from elementary school to university stage has a basis.
This conference specially arranged three special experience sharing sessions, led by Professor Xu Xiuju of National Donghua University, Associate Professor Zeng Yiren of National Kinmen University, and Assistant Professor Wu Jiajie of National Taichung University of Education, covering the innovative achievements and practical collaboration experience of teacher training aesthetic education. The roundtable forum on the theme of "Social Emotional Learning of Cross-Domain Aesthetics" was held afterwards, inviting on-site teacher training committee members and the host team of cross-domain aesthetic programs to have an in-depth conversation, focusing on "How to discover, feel and express emotions through artistic creation?" and "What resources and strategies are there in the field of art for social emotional learning at the school and classroom level?" and other topics for heated discussions and experience exchanges.
In the afternoon, the conference planned two unique literary reading routes in the Wenluoding neighborhood, with well-known writers Hong Hong and Xia Xia as tour guides. Under the guidance of the writers, participants shuttled between the streets full of humanistic atmosphere, explored the intersection of urban space and literary memory, and experienced how cross-disciplinary aesthetic education naturally occurs in daily life, and felt the multiple dialogues between literature, history and spatial aesthetics.
In the future, the Ministry of Education will continue to deepen the promotion of aesthetic education programs, strengthen the teacher training cooperation mechanism, and strive to build an aesthetic bridge connecting the teaching field and the future education vision.
