Keelung City Xinyi Elementary School - Haiyouyisi

The core theme of this art experience creation course is "Ya Pang Sea Dyeing," a plant dyeing technique inherited from the early residents and indigenous culture of Taiwan, combined with the wisdom of life in the marine environment. It combines the three different writing methods for describing marine scenery in the "Nature Notes" textbook of the fifth grade of the Chinese language field, as well as the observation, recording and description of community walk-through experiences. Combined with the social and comprehensive fields of the fifth grade, the nine-square grid thinking method is used to think and express thoughts on the ocean, environmental sustainability, sustainable living and consumption patterns. In combination with the field of technology, through the collection and integration of digital data, students learn the graphic editing and AI imaging skills of digital applications to create digital nature notes that integrate graphics and text.

This rich and diverse curriculum bridges language, social studies, general studies, and technology. This curriculum is embodied through an off-campus learning experience involving yam palm sea dyeing and a visit to a fishing village. Through hands-on participation and hands-on experiences, students' aesthetic appreciation is enriched, connecting the natural environment, traditional culture, and the wisdom of ancient peoples. This curriculum encourages students to observe and reflect on the significance of marine ecology and natural plant dyes for environmental sustainability. Furthermore, it guides students to consider and take concrete actions to implement sustainable living and consumption practices.
