Ludong Elementary School, Changhua County – A Warm Piece of Soil (Part 1 and Part 2)

A warm piece of clay: the warmth of your hands, the warmth of fire, the warmth of your heart, and a sensitivity to culture and nature. This course integrates SEL with SDGs 15, 112, and 17 into the "Clay-Land-Environment-Sound" framework, using pottery and succulents to symbolize the harmonious coexistence of human creation and nature. Curriculum Exploration:
1. Clay and Life: Connecting Nature and Self
Clay comes from the earth, which nurtures all things, symbolizing the relationship between man and nature. Through shaping with our hands, we experience the warmth of the earth, and through caring for plants, we cultivate respect for nature and life, deepening our environmental awareness.
2. Touch and memory: emotional expression and interpersonal connection
Clay, a simple medium, retains traces of handprints and shaping. The creative process allows personal emotions to be expressed, and through collaboration and sharing, it promotes interpersonal interaction, enhancing mental health and community connections.
3. Sound and Space: Environmental Resonance and Sustainable Practice
Pottery is both a musical instrument and a carrier of sound. By appreciating the natural sounds and the echoes of the land, we explore the symbiosis with the environment.
