Taichung City Datong Elementary School—Hug my love~Hug nature

The "Hug My Love ~ Embrace Nature" course focuses on "love and environmental care", integrating the concepts of emotional expression, environmental awareness and sustainable creation. Through the combination of art and technology, it guides students to think about the relationship between them and nature, and practice the spirit of caring for the earth through creative actions.
The course design emphasizes sustainable creation, using recycled old clothes as materials, allowing students to transform these resources into fiber art works, such as animal pillows that symbolize ecological protection (such as turtles, polar bears, etc.). Students also designed "symbols of love" with personal emotions to express their care and protection for nature. After the creation is completed, students will further give voice to the animals, combine AI technology, and use text-to-speech tools to create avatar videos that symbolize the animals, simulating the way a host tells the stories of the animals and their conservation needs. Each student’s creation will be presented in a digital interactive format. By designing a unique QR Code or ICON, you can scan it to watch the video and let the animals “speak” in a technological way.
During the process, we invited experts from the Wilderness Conservation Society to communicate with students, and the nature teacher combined the ORID questioning method of international education to guide students to deeply explore the significance of animal conservation and resource reuse. Students not only learned fiber art techniques such as sewing and collage, but also experienced how AI technology supports creative expression, thereby demonstrating their love for the earth through both emotion and action. Every stitch and every word of the work conveys the students' deep affection and responsibility for the environment. During the course, we went out of the classroom to visit art studios, appreciate fiber art works, understand the working style of professional artists, and explore the diversity of material banks. Through field learning outside the classroom, students can broaden their horizons, inspire creative thinking, and deepen their understanding of the environment and sustainable creation.
The ultimate goal of the "Embrace My Love, Embrace Nature" course is to enable students to understand and practice the value of love and environmental protection. Through the combination of artistic creation and AI technology, their works not only become the crystallization of emotion and environmental protection, but also become a bridge for dialogue with nature. We hope that students can feel the close connection between love and nature in their creations, and protect the earth with practical actions, so that environmental awareness can continue to be passed on in life, and make the earth a home that we all care for.
