Since 2018, Fuxing Elementary School has focused on the core concept of "Crafts Revitalization in Fuxing," developing various craft categories such as woodworking, dyeing, weaving, metalworking, and lacquerware, and fostering interdisciplinary craft courses through interaction and exchange with various fields. Previously, we focused on the children of Fuxing, but in the 2025 academic year, we planned to step outside of Fuxing, allowing children to start from their own hearts, look at the community, look at Taiwan, and look at the world, combining various fields to develop the "Crafts Revitalization in Fuxing: The Ocean of Life" course. This semester's interdisciplinary aesthetic course, themed "Crafts Revitalization in Fuxing: The Ocean of Life - Coral Reef Hide-and-Seek," combined with courses from the Mandarin reading class on tropical rainforests in the sea, social studies on the ocean's position and Taiwan's development, land use and change, and natural marine biology, with a "Coral Reef Hide-and-Seek" themed book exhibition and interactive games, allowing children to explore the marine issues faced by Taiwan's maritime inhabitants. By integrating art, language reading, nature and life technology, society, and other fields, and incorporating topics such as environment, ocean, multiculturalism, reading literacy, and international education, and using indicators such as SEL, SDGS, and topic integration to connect and develop research with various fields, we hope to inspire and develop a unique interdisciplinary aesthetic curriculum that is special to Fuxing Elementary School.
Next semester, students will choose a charitable organization that dedicates itself to the land of Taiwan, gain a deeper understanding of their contributions to Taiwan and their philanthropic ideals. Students will design craft works based on the theme of hide-and-seek with coral reefs, and then auction off the craft works, donating the proceeds to the charitable organization they are researching, contributing their own strength to charity through crafts.
