The development concept of this course is centered on life. From observation, discussion to practice, it helps students understand the function and diversity of housing architecture, and improves their environmental perception, cross-cultural understanding, teamwork and creativity.
- Cultivate observation and environmental awareness based on life experience
Houses are one of the most familiar buildings in children's daily lives, but they often don't think about it: "Why is the house designed like this?" This course guides students to explore from their surroundings through observing houses at home and in the community, and discover the relationship between architecture and life.
- Emphasize diversity and cultural connections and cultivate a global perspective
The house design in different regions is influenced by factors such as climate, culture, and history. For example, the apartments and townhouses common in Taiwan are very different from the stone houses or yurts in Europe. Through picture books and digital tools, this course helps children understand the diversity of architecture and reflect on the relationship between different houses and the local environment.
- Develop problem-solving skills through collaborative learning and practice
Housing construction is not just about "looking", but more importantly, it is about "thinking and designing"! Through group collaboration to design and build a secret house, students learn how to plan the functions of the house, select appropriate materials, and solve challenges during the construction process. This process not only trains their hands-on ability, but also cultivates their teamwork, innovative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Grade 4 [Keelung Green Map]
In this teaching activity, students deepened their understanding of Keelung’s characteristics by collecting information and drawing pictures of scenic spots, while also cultivating teamwork and expression skills. In the future, we can strengthen environmental awareness and guide students to think about how to protect local culture and natural landscape through practical actions.
