The 2026 Ministry of Education's Interdisciplinary Aesthetic Education Season "114th Academic Year Penghu County Partner School Achievement Sharing Meeting" was held at Penghu University of Science and Technology from June 25th to 26th. Partner schools from Penghu County and Dongju Elementary School from Lienchiang County were invited to participate. Through sharing of curriculum achievements, professional exchanges and site visits, the meeting showcased the diverse practices of interdisciplinary aesthetic education in the island environment.

The Interdisciplinary Aesthetic Education Program has been deeply rooted in Penghu for more than ten years. It continues to base itself on local culture, natural environment and students’ life experiences, and combines art, humanities, technology, environmental sustainability and social-emotional learning (SEL) to guide students to start from their hometown and cultivate aesthetic literacy, creativity and the ability to care for the land.

In this results sharing session, Pengnan Junior High School and Zhongzheng Junior High School collaborated across schools, from joint lesson planning to curriculum implementation, to complete the design and creation of water gate covers for five townships and one city in Penghu. With resource reuse as the core, they developed natural crayons using local Penghu plants and waste food, demonstrating the environmental sustainability spirit of "turning waste into life".

Magong Junior High School collaborated with National Penghu University of Science and Technology on the theme of "My Doll Story," combining visual arts, performing arts, Chinese language and information technology to guide students in creating characters, dolls and animation works. Through AI technology and literary narrative, students developed a complete creative process.

The elementary school curriculum also showcases rich local characteristics. Fenggui Elementary School focuses on the marine environment and local culture, using marine debris to create a map of Penghu, allowing students to learn about marine issues and local identity through creation; Dongju Elementary School combines fishing culture, natural ecology and five senses exploration, and connects social and emotional learning through the "Lighthouse Egg Protection Project", deepening students' feelings for their hometown and family.

In addition, National Penghu University of Science and Technology, in conjunction with its University Social Responsibility (USR) program, transformed local materials such as silver acacia and seaweed into handmade paper and cultural and creative products, exploring the possibilities of environmental sustainability, design innovation and local industry connections.

The second day of the event was themed "Economic Cycles Based on Nature's Teachings". It led teachers and students to start from the issues of climate change, carbon cycle and marine restoration, and went to Xiyu to conduct a field study on the recycling and reuse of oyster shells to understand the resource cycle process. Through mold making, they experienced the possibility of sustainable material recycling.

This results-sharing session not only showcased the rich achievements of Penghu's cross-regional aesthetic education, but also promoted exchanges and cooperation among teachers, allowing aesthetic learning to continue to take root in the ocean, the land, and life, accompanying students from their local roots to connect with the world and create a sustainable future.
