2023 Annual Cooperation School Achievement Sharing Meeting in Central Taiwan (Changhua-Nantou Region)

The 2025 Annual Cooperation School Achievement Sharing Meeting of the Central Taiwan Region (Changhua, Nantou, and Taichung) was held on May 22nd (Friday) at Ludong Elementary School in Changhua County. A total of 19 schools participated, presenting their outstanding curriculum achievements that integrated local characteristics, SEL (School of Educational Experience), SDGs (School of Social Development), and international issues. The event was hosted by Professor Zhuang Minren, with feedback and comments from Teacher Training Committee members Professor Li Jingfang and Assistant Professor Lin Jiahui. Curriculum Supervisor Chen Hongjun from the Changhua County Government Education Bureau and Principal Xie Xiuhua of Ludong Elementary School were also present to extend their greetings.

The participating schools shared their experiences with Changhua Ludong Elementary School, Changhua Shetou Elementary School, Taichung Donghai Elementary School, Changhua Wanxing Junior High School, Changhua Changtai Junior High School, Taichung National Chung-Jiao University Experimental Elementary School, Taichung Datong Elementary School, Taichung Dongshi Industrial High School, and Taichung Daming Senior High School. Starting from local life, the presentations focused on the ever-changing rhythms of the sea, the identity of the local sock industry, the construction of the Dadu Mountain cultural map, the local scenery and light in Erlin, stories of tree protection on campus, and the window patterns of old town buildings, integrating SEL, SDGs, and AI. The curriculum integrates science and technology with international issues, allowing students to express emotions and create works through music, various visual forms, and literary creation, and to engage in exchanges with other schools and even internationally. Changhua Arts High School combines art courses with life education and gender equality issues to enhance students' emotional expression and social service abilities. Nantou Xiulin Elementary School and Nantou Guoxi Elementary School combine bamboo culture and tea culture with music courses, respectively. Nantou Changliu Elementary School, Taichung Fuyang Elementary School, Taichung Datong Elementary School, and Taichung Taichung Elementary School extend from environmental education, combining AI tools to create picture books, SEL drawing to embrace emotions, and using AI to develop microscopic worlds into prints, as well as combining bubble blowing with pottery making. Changhua Peiying Elementary School, Taichung Washington Bilingual Elementary School, and Taichung Taichung Elementary School develop different aesthetic courses through food and agriculture education. Changhua Lianxing Elementary School and Neian Elementary School combine life and festival culture with visual arts development courses, presenting a diverse and creative interdisciplinary aesthetic curriculum. In addition, each school shared suggestions on how their courses can be implemented in other schools, enhancing the effectiveness of inter-school learning.

Professor Chuang Min-jen, the co-director of the project, pointed out that the courses taught by partner schools in the Changhua-Nantou area this semester have become increasingly sophisticated in their use of digital and AI technologies to assist learning. Furthermore, the connections between SEL (Student Learning Experience) and key themes are naturally integrated into the arts curriculum. The interdisciplinary aesthetic education courses at each school not only possess unique cultural characteristics but also emphasize the cultivation of aesthetic appreciation in students' daily lives. Teacher training committee members Professor Li Ching-fang and Assistant Professor Lin Chia-hui were deeply moved by the content shared by the partner schools, believing that the courses developed from local culture or school-based curricula not only possess interdisciplinary and intermediary compatibility but also make it easy for students to practice aesthetic experiences in their daily lives.

In the afternoon, teachers gathered at Lukang Old Street for a hands-on puzzle-solving workshop. Based on an understanding of Lukang's local history and culture, participants explored the area firsthand, learning about Lukang's past port trade culture, river geography changes, and temple architecture. This activity also allowed teachers from different schools to share perspectives, solve problems, and learn from each other in group collaborations. The afternoon's interaction fostered connections among teachers in the central Taiwan region (Changhua, Nantou, and Taichung), increasing familiarity and creating more opportunities for future inter-school collaborations.

After the sharing session with the partner schools in the central Taiwan region, Professor Min-Ren and the teacher training committee members encouraged each other, believing that teacher training needs to be done well to cultivate high-quality teachers so that they can be integrated into the school workplace!
