Encountering cross-cultural aesthetics at the zoo during the sweltering summer

Following their performance of the stage play "As Long As I Grow Up" at the "Under the Camphor Tree Art Festival" on May 30th, students, teachers, and parents of Bojia Experimental Elementary School in Taipei City launched the "Traveler's Journey Through Time" static art exhibition on June 4th at the Taipei Zoo, located near the school. The exhibition, meticulously prepared by the school's curatorial team, showcases a cross-disciplinary aesthetic encompassing drama, instrumental choral music, and visual arts. Professor Huang Chun-min, the co-director of the project, attended the opening ceremony, along with Huang Xiang, head of the zoo's promotion team; Wu Kun-hui, head of Bojia Village; Lin Pu, director of Huashan Creative Park; Hsieh Chih-ching, Apple instructor; and Dai Yun-bing, vice president of the Southern District of the Taipei Elementary School Parents Association. They all witnessed this exhibition that combines art, education, and community resources.

The "Travelers Through Time and Space" static art exhibition, themed "Future," showcases approximately one thousand works representing the learning outcomes of students from kindergarten to sixth grade in interdisciplinary aesthetic classrooms. Students utilized diverse media such as clay, painting, light and shadow creation, architectural models, and three-dimensional installations, incorporating elements from the "Under the Camphor Tree" campus environment and world-renowned paintings (Dali, Mondrian, Gaudi, Monet, Picasso) to construct imaginary worlds of time travel. Furthermore, the exhibition integrates art and poetry, demonstrating the cross-disciplinary integration of art, literature, local culture, natural ecology, and life experiences, documenting students' growth, and presenting each student's inner story and vision for the future.

This exhibition not only embodies Bo-Chia Elementary School's educational philosophy of "every child is a little artist" and "let every child be seen," but also collaborates with the Taipei Zoo Education Center to showcase the rich creativity and interdisciplinary aesthetic achievements of all students. It fully demonstrates the abundant energy of Bo-Chia Elementary School's cross-disciplinary collaboration with community partners, allowing teachers, students, parents, and members of the public from all over Taipei City and even Taiwan to visit the zoo to see the animals and also have the opportunity to appreciate the educational beauty of interdisciplinary aesthetics and the pure vision of children.
