National Pingtung Experimental High School and National Tung-Shih Senior High School—Seeking Beauty in Tainan

The first semester's theme was "Exploring the Sugar Industry in Pingtung with the Fragrance of Sugarcane," while the second semester extends to "Exploring the Local Sugar Culture in Tainan with the Fragrance of Salt." Starting with local history, natural sciences, creative writing, and artistic expression, students will discover the value of local culture within their living environment. The program aims to cultivate observation, inquiry, and aesthetic interpretation skills. Using sugarcane, sugar industry clusters, and local stories as a starting point, students will engage in diverse learning activities such as literature and history reading, poetry creation, comic strip experiments, and field trips. Through hands-on, interdisciplinary learning, students will understand the natural environment, human history, and local characteristics behind the sugar and salt industries. Different media and forms of expression will help them transform their observations, thoughts, and feelings into creative works with personal perspectives. The program hopes to not only provide students with interdisciplinary knowledge but also foster a sense of identity and care for their hometown, develop their ability to actively explore and express themselves openly, and create a profound connection between aesthetic learning and local culture, thus embodying the core spirit of interdisciplinary aesthetics.
