This course takes "natural observation as the starting point and artistic expression as the medium" as the starting point, combining the fields of biology and visual arts to develop students' learning experience that combines scientific understanding with aesthetic literacy.
I. Starting with Nature: Beginning with Observation
Insects are among the most readily accessible natural materials for students. This course guides students to understand the structure, behavior, and ecological characteristics of insects through close observation, cultivating their meticulous observation skills and scientific literacy.
II. Using Art as a Tool for Understanding: Transformation and Expression
Art is not just a result, but a way of understanding the world. Students transform and express the characteristics of insects they observe through painting, clay, ink painting, and other forms, moving from "seeing" to "expressing".
III. Cross-disciplinary integration: A dialogue between science and aesthetics
The course breaks down disciplinary boundaries, allowing biological knowledge and artistic creation to support each other: science provides structure and authenticity, while art provides interpretation and creativity.
IV. Cultivating Aesthetic Appreciation: Experiencing Order and Beauty in Nature
Insects possess aesthetic elements such as symmetry, rhythm, texture, and color. The course guides students to discover the patterns and beauty in nature and establish the view that "life is aesthetics."
Fifth, emphasize process-oriented learning: observation → understanding → creation → reflection. The curriculum design prioritizes the learning process over the outcome.
