Yongxing Elementary School, Yongjing Township, Changhua County—The Taste of Home: Memories Under the Eaves

"Home" is where children first learn about the world, and the mother (or primary caregiver) plays a vital role in accompanying a child's growth. This course, themed "The Taste of Home, The Eaves of Memory," guides students to reinterpret the ordinary yet precious moments in their families through interviews, recollections, observations, and artistic creation, drawing upon their life experiences.
The course combines visual arts, integrated activities, and life education, allowing students to collect family stories, draw portraits of their primary caregivers, and incorporate objects and scenarios symbolizing memories, transforming abstract emotions into concrete images and words. Finally, a Mother's Day event is held to showcase the students' work, allowing them to share their creative process, learn to appreciate the life experiences of others, and cultivate empathy, aesthetic appreciation, and social engagement.
This course corresponds to the interdisciplinary aesthetic literacy aspects of "aesthetic reflection and awareness", "art participation and social action", "cultural cross-border and multi-faceted interpretation" and "art inquiry and life practice". It is hoped that students can see themselves and understand their families in artistic creation and turn love and gratitude into practical actions.
