This course, themed "World Cuisine," combines English and visual arts for interdisciplinary learning. It guides students to start with everyday food culture, connecting language comprehension, cultural exploration, and artistic creation, thereby cultivating multifaceted literacy and an international perspective.
The English course guides students to read, write, and express themselves in English in real-life situations by exploring the names, origins, historical backgrounds, ingredient characteristics, and cultural significance of cuisines from different countries, thereby enhancing their language application skills and cross-cultural understanding.
The visual arts course, based on the principles of point, line, plane, and typography, combines layout design, text and image arrangement, and illustration to guide students in using visual language to present food stories and cultural characteristics, cultivating aesthetic literacy and creative thinking skills. Students integrate their interdisciplinary learning outcomes to complete a cohesive and aesthetically pleasing English mini-book, and promote communication, interaction, and collaborative learning through presentations and public exhibitions. The overall curriculum is competency-oriented, embodying the spirit of interdisciplinary integration and practicing the concept of holistic education.
