This project uses the sixth-grade graduation season as a real-life scenario, combining the learning content of Jiafeng Elementary School's "Reading Through the Seasons," visual arts courses, and "Digital Scientist" to develop the "Reading Through the Seasons × Jiafeng Phonograph: My Audio Graduation Book Interdisciplinary Course." Starting with students' upcoming graduation experiences, the course guides them through memory organization, text writing, image creation, sound recording, and presentation to complete their own audio graduation book as a graduation gift to themselves, their families, teachers, classmates, and the school.
This course guides students through a creative process of "organizing emotions, preserving memories, expressing themselves, and connecting with others." Through reflecting on school memories, recording family blessings, documenting the voices of teachers and peers, and writing graduation wishes to their future selves, students can revisit their own growth experience at Jiafeng Elementary School and transform sound, words, and images into aesthetically pleasing works that are personally meaningful and imbued with school memories.
The course centers on "Reading Through the Seasons" as the core of text and emotional organization, with instructors assisting students in writing various versions of texts and reflecting on life experiences. The visual arts course guides students in the overall design of audiobooks, the creation of cover and interior page images, color schemes, and the aesthetic expression of layout. The "Digital Scientist" learning content is integrated into the course through recording, audio file organization, cloud submission, and QR code links to support students in completing digital audiobook works.
This course also incorporates Social Emotional Learning (SEL), guiding students to engage in self-awareness, emotional expression, and relationship reflection before graduation. Through writing and recording, students organize their gratitude and blessings for family, teachers, classmates, and themselves, thereby deepening their school identity and self-affirmation. Especially since this year's students entered Jiafeng in their later years, their sense of belonging to the campus and peer relationships need to be gradually built through time and course experience. Therefore, this course emphasizes students' actual needs as the core, demonstrating the school's spirit of flexible adjustment and continuous revision of curriculum plans.
The course concludes with an audio graduation project, a presentation of the student's work, self-evaluation, peer feedback, and exhibition feedback as the basis for learning outcomes and course evaluation. In an exhibition setting where students feel seen, understood, and blessed, they complete the transformation from "students about to graduate" to "learners who can look back on themselves, cherish relationships, and look forward to the future," making art learning an important medium for preserving childhood memories, expressing emotions, and embracing the future.
