Taichung City West District Dayong Elementary School – “Reshaping” – Art × Counseling × Self-Exploration

This course takes "seeing yourself, cherishing the environment, and creating value" as its core concept, and combines art, Mandarin, environmental education and social-emotional learning (SEL) to construct an interdisciplinary aesthetic curriculum.
First, students are guided to re-examine their appearance, interests, dreams, stress, and inner emotions through self-portraits, using artistic creation as a medium for self-exploration and emotional expression. Next, they are guided to read the explanatory text "The Magical Sweatshirt" in the Chinese language textbook, learning how technology transforms waste plastic into everyday products and understanding the importance of the circular economy and sustainable development. Finally, students use recycled plastic bottle caps for artistic creation, experiencing the possibilities of material recycling and connecting "resource regeneration" with "self-growth," cultivating aesthetic appreciation, creativity, and a sense of social responsibility.
The course emphasizes self-awareness, knowledge understanding, and artistic practice, guiding students to discover that everyone has unique value and that every seemingly useless object can be given new life through creativity.
