This course, centered around the Miaoli Wenchang Temple, a Class III historical site designated by the Ministry of the Interior, connects the Sanxia Zushiye Temple and the Hsinchu City God Temple, creating a cross-disciplinary curriculum that spans art, culture, and language learning. Through guided tours, expert lectures, artistic creation, and cultural exchange, the course aims to guide students through authentic temple construction techniques, painting techniques, and cultural symbolism, deepening their understanding of the preservation and sustainable development of local cultural assets.
This course combines the dual goals of self-exploration and cultural heritage, encouraging students to draw on their inner desires and integrate traditional Taiwanese imagery into their own creations, cultivating their aesthetic appreciation and cultural interpretation skills. Through the use of media such as tempera, pastel, and watercolor, students not only master artistic expression techniques but also incorporate cultural connotations into their works, becoming a concrete practice of cultural heritage.
In addition, this course echoes the core competencies of the 108 curriculum and the spirit of cross-cultural learning, integrating English professional vocabulary teaching and international exchange activities, allowing students to develop comprehensive abilities in communication and expression, aesthetic creation, local connection, and international understanding in the process of artistic creation and cultural exploration.
The course will culminate in a trip by teachers from the school to Kotohira Elementary and Junior High School in Kagawa Prefecture, Japan, showcasing students' artwork featuring traditional Taiwanese totems for cultural exchange and artistic dialogue with local teachers and students. Through sharing and interaction, the students' creations will serve as a cultural bridge connecting young people in Taiwan and Japan, fulfilling the educational vision of "starting locally, reaching global," and injecting a new generation of energy into urban-rural cultural integration and cultural sustainability.
