Kaohsiung City Yingming Junior High School – Yingming Arts and Fun: From the Glimmer of the Heart to Landscape Narrative

Next semester will focus on growth and healing, building on last semester's deconstruction of stress. This semester, we will guide students to engage in deep self-awareness. In past workshops, I've felt that students aren't incapable of creation, but rather they don't know how to connect with themselves. When emotions are successfully triggered in a tiered manner, we can see their different levels of stress and inspiration. Peers can also understand each other, release stress, and find resonance. We begin by using the auditory perception of singing bowls to evoke tranquility, then guide students to an intuitive understanding of color. Next, we add a layer of visual vocabulary to observe the various color atmospheres of the weather. Using the horizon, students observe and record their daily routines, moods, and environmental colors. We then bring the feeling and atmosphere of color to the context of a story, using English picture books to deepen their understanding of emotional labels. Next, we observe the school campus, discover the unique characteristics of the class, and use decorative lines and color blocks with stained glass effects to integrate the image, transforming it into a campus narrator, Kong Gai, that carries collective memories.
We guide students to soothe their anxieties with sound, record life with color, and create with manhole covers like stained glass, leaving behind a storyline belonging to their generation on campus, transforming trivial daily emotions into artistic actions with social connection and collective aesthetics.
