"Song of the Dreamy Mountain: A Story Beginning with the River" is an interdisciplinary curriculum design centered on local stories. The curriculum uses the "Chukeng Creek" as its starting point. A tributary of the creek flows right next to the school, and children wash their dishes by the creek daily. The visible stream serves as a carrier of local landscape emotions and knowledge. Through interdisciplinary integration, "listening, speaking, reading, writing, drawing, and doing" are incorporated into the teaching process. We believe that learning should not be limited to textbooks but should start from the land beneath our feet, connecting students' life experiences and local culture through sensory observation of the environment and the application of technology.
This course covers three key areas, guiding students to understand their hometown from different perspectives:
I. Integrated Domain (Life Stories): Through "listening to elders tell stories," students establish an emotional connection with the land and pass on local history and memories.
II. Language Arts Domain (Technology and Creativity): Combining modern technology "AI-assisted creation" to transform the ancient legend of Chukeng Creek into an online picture book, training students' narrative and digital expression skills.
III. Art Field (Aesthetic Gathering): From color capture to print design, guide students to observe nature and internalize local characteristics into creative inspiration.
This course aims to achieve the following three core development goals:
I. Cultural Identity (The Story of Cukeng Creek, Local Legends): Deepen understanding of hometown culture and establish a sense of local belonging.
II. Digital Literacy (AI-Assisted Picture Book Creation, Camera Color Capture): Learn to use modern tools for cultural translation and creation.
III. Aesthetic Applications (Cultural Color Collection, Print Design, Painted Pony): Enhance color sensitivity and transform local elements into aesthetically pleasing designs.
Combining narrative, art, and technology, we guide students on an exploration of their local culture and inner world. Through the waters of the Cukeng Creek, we nurture students' creativity, allowing local culture to take on a new form in the digital age, realizing our teaching vision of "stories begin with the river, and beauty originates from the heart."
