Taipei Bo-Chia Elementary School - Percussion Carnival

This project aims to cultivate creative performance skills, using a vertically developed percussion performance curriculum as its core, while horizontally connecting visual arts and academic disciplines. It constructs an integrated curriculum that fosters interdisciplinary learning and connects with real-life applications. Students at all levels use percussion, classical music, nursery rhymes, or popular songs as inspiration to create themes that align with the musical imagery. They then develop visual arts costumes and performance movements based on these themes. With the collaborative teaching of teachers from various subjects, students achieve an integrated learning experience encompassing visual, auditory, and performing arts elements, as well as the meaning of the music. Finally, they present their learning outcomes in a marching percussion performance at a final presentation, showcasing the unique artistic styles of each grade level. This innovative experimental education emphasizes the processes of interdisciplinary learning, integration, participation, and critical thinking, cultivating students' cross-disciplinary abilities.(transversalcompetence)The curriculum integrates the theoretical knowledge learned in arts and humanities classes into practical life skills, enabling students to realize their ideas through action. For example, students learn percussion skills and create costumes for the school anniversary parade, cultivating well-rounded children with both knowledge and attitude. The arts-themed activity courses combine information technology, music, visual arts, performing arts, social studies, nature, English, and literature. Through a "Creative Beauty" practical process—from aesthetic learning to creative inspiration, interdisciplinary thinking, action, and reflection—the curriculum becomes more creative and enriches its content, ultimately realizing the educational ideal of "Beauty and Creativity at Bojia, helping children become better people."
