Our school centers on the spirit of experimental education, combining aesthetic education with a competency-based curriculum. Through interdisciplinary learning in real-world scenarios, we guide students from "learners" to "creators," and further to practitioners with public engagement skills. We believe that aesthetic education is not just about cultivating artistic skills, but also about fostering life attitudes, critical thinking abilities, and social responsibility. Therefore, our curriculum development vision is "Aesthetic Creativity, Enabling Children to Become Beautiful Individuals."
This course uses the "Camphor Tree Art Festival" as its core learning context, a grand arts and cultural event jointly planned, created, and participated in by teachers and students. Students apply the knowledge and skills learned in the classroom to the curation, music, and drama performances of the art festival. Through real-world tasks, problem-solving, collaborative communication, and public presentations, students achieve holistic learning that integrates knowledge, skills, and attitudes.
The course design follows a learning cycle of "aesthetic learning—creative inspiration—interdisciplinary thinking—action—reflection and feedback".
The program combines music, visual arts, performing arts, language arts, digital technology, social studies, nature, English, and character development.
Through diverse learning fields such as education, international education, and literature, we break down disciplinary boundaries, allowing children to integrate knowledge with practice.
It cultivates creativity, communication skills, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities, truly connecting learning with life and showcasing individual qualities.
The value of nurturing and guiding education.
The course utilizes five key interdisciplinary features to build students' comprehensive interdisciplinary learning abilities.
I. Cross-format: Combining diverse art forms such as concerts, theatrical performances, and art curation, providing students with diverse stages to showcase their talents and enriching their art learning experience.
II. Interdisciplinary: Integrating knowledge from fields such as language, art, digital technology, society, nature, English, character education, international education, and literature to cultivate students' interdisciplinary integration and innovative thinking abilities.
3. Cross-age: Adopting a mixed-age learning model, through peer collaboration, experience sharing and joint creation, a culture of mutual assistance and learning is established to enhance cooperation and leadership skills.
Fourth, cross-domain learning: Extend learning to different venues such as Bo-Chia Elementary School, Muzha Industrial High School, Taipei Zoo, and Muzha Incineration Plant, allowing students to broaden their learning horizons through exploration, observation, and practice in real environments.
Fifth, cross-partnership: Combining resources from artists' parents and the community, such as the joint participation of director Zhang Yiting and Mr. Cai Shaofeng in the course, introducing professional practical experience, and deepening students' artistic creation and performance abilities.
Aesthetic Eyes: From Perception to Action
This course emphasizes that aesthetic appreciation is not merely about admiration, but rather about internalizing it into a life skill through practice.
• From perception to creation: Students no longer just talk the talk, but turn their ideas into concrete results through real creation.
• From presentation to practice: Providing diverse stages, diverse teaching methods, and diverse opportunities for presentation, so that every student can find a way of expression that suits them.
• From Action to Reflection: Through curating, creating, performing and sharing, students are guided to reflect on aesthetics, dreams and self-worth, and to cultivate a spirit of lifelong learning and public participation.
Therefore, the "Art Festival Under the Camphor Tree" is not only an art exhibition and performance, but also a cross-disciplinary, aesthetically oriented, and literacy-based curriculum. Students create their own artistic event from scratch, from imagination to practice, through collaboration and mutual support between teachers and students. This process puts into practice the school's core educational principles of "aesthetics, thinking, creation, action, and sharing," allowing art to truly enter life and making learning a life journey full of creativity, cooperation, and inspiration.
Through real-world task practice, students cultivate self-directed learning, interdisciplinary integration, communication and collaboration, and problem-solving skills in a cycle of planning, creation, performance, and reflection. They gradually develop aesthetic literacy and public participation awareness, transforming classroom learning into the ability to face future life and social challenges.
