Our school is located in the foothills of Miaoli. The scattered ponds around it were an important source of irrigation for early agriculture in Jiaopu and also a habitat for many local creatures (such as tilapia, spotted turtles, dragonflies, and kingfishers).
Continuing the "Satoyama Imagery" course from the 2014-2016 academic year, this semester focuses on "Aquatic Ecology." Through interdisciplinary aesthetic courses, students are guided to step outside the classroom to observe the light and shadow and ecology of ponds. This is combined with bilingual teaching to enhance international perspectives and incorporate SEL (Social and Emotional Learning) learning. Through the labor and creation of mosaic collages, students become aware of their own emotions and cultivate care for the land, ultimately transforming the school walls into an art landscape with local stories.
