Surabaya Taiwanese School in Indonesia — "Dyeing" My Hometown

This semester, we are teaching 30 students from two fourth-grade classes. We are integrating local culture into our social studies classes, encouraging students to create and share posters showcasing their hometown's unique characteristics in small groups. We also plan dynamic activities such as making local foods and costumes, using an immersive approach to help students connect with their hometown culture. Next semester, in our art class, we plan to have students design hometown badges, which will then be batiked onto cotton fabric to create unique hometown-themed handkerchiefs.
