Washington Elementary School, Taichung City - Encountering Berry

Course Design:
"Berry Reborn" begins with the second-grade "Fertile Soil" curriculum, combining art, language, nature, information technology, and physical education. Through interdisciplinary learning and teaching activities, it connects the main themes of learning in each area, allowing children to gain different learning experiences in a diverse learning environment. It hopes to break free from the confines of the classroom and subjects by connecting aesthetic courses, enabling students to have a more innovative and in-depth learning process.
This year's curriculum continues last year's theme of "Strawberry," from farm to table. In the natural field, it includes farm site surveys, strawberry cultivation, and discussions on healthy food and agriculture issues. In reading, there are thematic reading and writing activities. In art, through the extension and exploration of the five senses, there are three-dimensional creations, land art, performance rhythms, and computer graphics designs for many interesting picture book characters.
Finally, the course incorporated life education, taking students from farm to table through food preparation and exchanges with primary schools in West Asia, allowing them to experience the culinary cultures of various countries. It also explored environmental sustainability issues, from poverty and hunger to environmental medicine and climate problems, to understand the goals of global sustainable development.
