Chiayi County Liulin Elementary School - Training from the Heart

This course revolves around the theme of "Refining from the Heart." The design concept is to define the question: How can we cultivate the power to heal our souls through inspiration from the people and things of our hometown? Through the creative design of refining cards and reflective activities, we will promote personal spiritual growth and identification with our hometown.

The curriculum incorporates design thinking principles, guiding students to define problems, conceive ideas, and then prototype and test them from an empathetic perspective. This not only cultivates their problem-solving skills but also fosters creativity and innovation. Social-emotional learning (SEL) is also a key component of the curriculum. Through collaborative learning and discussion, students develop self-awareness, self-management, interpersonal skills, and responsible decision-making, further fostering their emotional development and social resilience.

The "Refining Heart Card" prototype experiment is a curriculum designed with the end in mind. The goal is first established, followed by continuous revision and refinement of the prototypes along the way. Ultimately, these repeatedly refined works are presented in a curated exhibition, giving students the opportunity to showcase their achievements and share their journeys. This process not only cultivates students' ability to continuously improve but also provides a deeper understanding of the cyclical process of design thinking.
