Although most students are in their hometowns, they generally do not know much about their hometowns. Our school is located in Puzi City, and most students come from Dongshi and Puzi. By combining the local nature of the school-based curriculum with aesthetic education, we lead students from discovering the beauty of their hometowns to exploring the beauty of their hometowns. Finally, we incorporate the results of the local exploration into the picnic arrangements on the campus lawn, attempting to move towards the concept of a cultural dining table.
The course will guide students through the exploration of local culinary texts, guiding them to reflect on the flavors of home. They will then connect the dining table with the local culture and geography, leading them to seek out local specialty restaurants, exploring, understanding, interpreting, and recreating them. By integrating the spirit and characteristics of local restaurants with aesthetics, the course will focus on a campus cultural picnic as its ultimate outcome. Throughout the process, students will experience a multidisciplinary journey encompassing sensory memory, literary resonance, humanistic exploration, and design practice, progressing from "understanding hometown" to "interpreting hometown," ultimately achieving a new understanding of local culture and its aesthetic practice.
