"Light and Shadow" is a school-based curriculum at our school and forms part of Unit 5 of this semester's Life Studies course. Through cross-disciplinary learning, it guides students to explore the world of light and shadow, cultivating their observation, creativity, and expressive abilities. By integrating life and art, the course allows students to develop an understanding of light and shadow, enhance their aesthetic sense and appreciation, and deepen their learning through practical application.
The course emphasizes the use of multiple senses to understand and express ideas through the observation of light and shadow, integrating scientific experiments with artistic creation. Through activities such as shadow experiments, students transform abstract scientific phenomena into concrete works of art, making learning more vivid and multifaceted.
The course combines Mandarin poetry appreciation and composition with Hokkien poetry recitation, allowing students to experience the beauty of poetry in a diverse language. Appreciation enhances language sense and literary literacy, while creative expression fosters observations and emotions. Recitation further demonstrates oral expression and the application of the native language. By integrating language, art, and culture, the course guides students to transform their life experiences into poetic texts, deepening their language skills and cultural identity.
In the visual and performing arts, students use images, color, and body language to express the play of light and shadow, inspiring creativity. Through group discussions and work presentations, students learn observation, reflection, and feedback, improving their creations and respecting diverse perspectives.
Teachers conduct multifaceted assessments through observation, work presentations, and group discussions, providing students with timely feedback. Students also engage in self-reflection and peer assessment, which not only helps them assess their progress in the course but also fosters a deeper understanding of the learning process.
