Kouhu Junior High School in Yunlin County - A Visual Story of Jackie Chan's Hometown

Chenglong Village, Kouhu Township, is located at the heart of Yunlin County. Typhoon Wayne in 1986 caused seawater backflow, flooding the entire coastal area of Kouhu Township, profoundly altering its economy, ecology, and residents' lives. Older generations even called it a cursed place. After nearly 40 years of infusions of various resources, Kouhu Township has gradually found a way to coexist with the water and continue to cultivate this land. In the arts, the Jackie Chan Art Festival is an opportunity for the beauty of Chenglong Village to be rediscovered internationally. The Festival brings together international artists and engages residents in collaborative artistic creation, gradually fostering a sense of belonging to their hometown and a glimpse into the beauty of their community.

Kouhu Junior High School in Yunlin County has been promoting outdoor education for over a decade. We entered the Jackie Chan community to design a reality puzzle to understand the community's three aspects: life, production, and ecology. These three aspects simultaneously align with the social, economic, and environmental dimensions of the SDGs. In the process of exploring their hometown environment, we hope that students will be nurtured in the humanities and arts. Through training their five senses, they will discover the forgotten beauty in the corners of the community, triggering their inner emotions as inspiration for their creations, continuing the original intention of the community's past Jackie Chan Art Season and turning the beauty of their hometown into a sustainable seed.
