Taitung County's Dawang Elementary School, a benchmark school for the interdisciplinary aesthetic education program, held an interdisciplinary exhibition at the Taitung Art Museum on April 25th, themed "City Cuisine—Pacific Capital x ㄊㄢˊ Food Future." Simultaneously, in collaboration with other benchmark schools in the program, Kaohsiung City's Linyuan Elementary School and Zhuangjing Elementary School, they presented their nine-year-long, nature-respecting, interdisciplinary aesthetic learning journey in ecological dining.

Professor Huang Chun-min, the co-director of the project, and Professor Kuo Mei-nu, a teacher training committee member, made a special trip to show their support, affirming the efforts of the three schools in developing interdisciplinary curriculum cooperation and deepening their roots in Taitung and Kaohsiung, and guiding students to learn by doing. As Professor Chun-min pointed out, Da-Wang Elementary School, like Taitung High School, plays a leading role in the project in the southeastern region.
Teachers from the three schools connected with local farmers, fishermen, and eco-chefs, taking students to three forest farms: a coffee plantation with "multi-layered understory cultivation," a custard apple orchard using "natural weed grafting," and a winged bean cultivation area where crops are "vaccinated." In these three forest farms, students observed ecological cycles and understood the relationship between crops and the environment. They also learned about eco-friendly fishing practices and ocean conservation from fishermen. Through the concept of sustainable ecological cycles, students reflected on the sources of their daily food, experiencing the environmental impact of choices from farm to table, and learning that their choices regarding agriculture and food can change the world.

This interdisciplinary aesthetics course embodies the spirit of "symbiosis, coexistence, and shared prosperity," enabling students to become active listeners to the voice of the natural environment, understand the connections between humans and nature, communities and land, and food and ecology, and cultivate an attitude of respecting the environment and cherishing resources. It also promotes students' renewed understanding of local culture and industries, making education a vital force connecting the land and the future.

In addition, the Executive Director of the Executive Yuan Eastern Region Office, representatives from the Taitung Education Bureau, Quanta Computer Institute of Design, the Taiwan Ecological Food Design Center, and the village chief of Dawang Village also participated in the event, joining teachers and students in chanting the declaration of protecting the environment and affixing various signature stickers of the sustainability ambassadors to their names, thus protecting the Earth. The scene was passionate and moving, generating a powerful impact.
