The second community exchange event in the Taipei-New Taipei-Keelung-Yilan area was held with great enthusiasm.

The second session of the 2015 Taipei-New Taipei-Keelung-Yilan Cross-Regional Community Exchange Meeting (November 25th) was held at Shuangyong Elementary School in Taipei City. The meeting was opened by Professor Huang Chun-min, co-host of the project, and Ms. Tsai Yi-ting, director of Shuangyong Elementary School. After introducing Professor Shih Lan-mei and Professor Chang Yu-shan from National Taiwan Normal University, who are members of the teacher training cooperation committee, as well as teachers from partner schools in Taipei, New Taipei, Keelung-Yilan (including teachers from Shuangyong Elementary School), the meeting began with lesson presentations, observations, and exchanges.

Yang Xiujun, a teacher at Shuangyong Elementary School, first explained the concept behind the interdisciplinary aesthetic bilingual course "Public Art is Interesting" by combining the ideas of students and artists with campus public art in response to the school building renovation. This guided students to understand public art, its meaning, and its importance.

Next, during the observation period, Ms. Yang guided students to identify and recognize public art in their daily lives, starting with its definition, context, forms of expression, and functionality. Students shared their feelings and questions about public art, offering their imaginative perspectives. They also collaborated in groups to share connections to their living environment and to focus on the significance and future of public art in real life.

During the discussion session, Professor Shi Lanmei pointed out that Teacher Yang led students from discussion to summarization, extending student feedback to positive learning significance. Professor Zhang Yushan mentioned that the course made games more than just games, incorporating emotional connections to immerse students in the course context. Professor Huang Chunmin added that bilingual visual arts teaching, starting with "what," "where," and "why" questions, more effectively guided students to think and participate in discussions. The activities combined student physical movements and SEL (Student Learning Experience) to demonstrate the learning and perspective of public art embodying truth, goodness, and beauty.

Other participating primary and secondary school teachers shared their experiences, including: the layered structure of the curriculum and the gradual progression of questions, which allowed students to follow the pace of the course and enter the core of the lesson and engage in observation and discussion; students felt safe and secure in learning and expressing themselves through positive feedback from teachers, and actively participated in discussions; and teachers empowered students to think responsibly.

Through today's cross-district, cross-school, and cross-disciplinary empowerment exchange activities in Taipei, New Taipei, Keelung, and Yilan, teachers inspired each other with teaching methods and philosophies, shared creative techniques and resources, and enhanced the connection, dialogue, and collaborative spirit among the cross-disciplinary aesthetic education teacher community.
