Professors Li Qichang and Zhuang Minren, co-hosts of the interdisciplinary aesthetic education project, visited and exchanged ideas with the project's partner school, Taiwan School in Jakarta, Indonesia, from January 12th to 15th, engaging in an in-depth dialogue that blends art, culture, and an international perspective.

Under Principal Chang Chin-fu's introduction, the project team presented a circular diagram of interdisciplinary aesthetic education, symbolizing the spirit of the project, to Representative Hung Chen-jung of the Taipei Economic and Trade Office in Indonesia. This symbolizes an important milestone in the continued establishment and outreach of Taiwan's aesthetic education overseas.
This trip also invited Director Tsai Chun-chi of another partner school, Surabaya Taiwan School, to come for exchanges. Under Principal Chang's guidance and meticulous arrangements, the team participated in the presentation, discussion and observation of two art courses: batik and shadow puppetry. They also visited the kindergarten teaching site and saw how the school uses art as an important medium for understanding culture and cultivating sensitivity and creativity at different learning stages.

As a Taiwanese school located overseas, the students of the Jakarta Taiwanese School demonstrate a high degree of international perspective and cultural inclusiveness, enabling the school to flexibly utilize local cultural resources and develop distinctive and competitive curriculum features. The music curriculum combines traditional Indonesian Gamelan with Western musical elements, showcasing the possibilities of cross-cultural innovation; the visual arts highlight internationally certified batik, guiding students to respond to the land, history, and world through art.

During the exchange, the two professors also shared their insights on the diverse development directions of interdisciplinary courses in terms of historical context, student participation, and cultural connection, serving as a reference for future curriculum deepening and expansion. Given the realities and multiple challenges of operating overseas, the Jakarta Taiwan School shoulders the mission of cultural inheritance, local connection, and international dialogue, making its educational potential particularly valuable. In the future, the project will continue to collaborate with overseas partners to allow aesthetic education to transcend borders and become a connecting force between Taiwan and the world.
