Hualien-Taitung District Interdisciplinary Aesthetic Education and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Co-creation Workshop

The Hualien-Taitung District Interdisciplinary Aesthetic Education and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Co-creation Workshop was successfully held on January 18th at Daoxiang Elementary School in Hualien!
Teachers from over 100 kilometers across the Hualien, Taitung, North, Central and South regions gathered together. Principal Chen Tzu-fang also attended the event, joining everyone in learning and experiencing, demonstrating her strong emphasis on interdisciplinary aesthetic education and socio-emotional learning.

The event was opened with an inclusive approach by Associate Professor Chen Yunwen, the co-host of the project, who guided teachers to be aware of their current emotions and physical reactions. She also pointed out the core issue of "who knows the teachers' inner thoughts" and encouraged them to share their experiences through group discussions.

Following this, the Flowery Storytelling Theatre Company presented a series of theatrical experiences centered on the body and narrative: extending from verbal expression to physical interaction, ultimately forming a flowing sculpture where each person tells a story. This allowed teachers to express emotional tension through art and the body, while simultaneously practicing self-awareness and empathy for others. During the process, participants also used emotion scales to share their feelings, experiencing the multi-layered nature of emotions and feelings, from curiosity to inspiration. The Flowery Storytelling Theatre Company further improvised performances based on these genuine sharing experiences, leaving a moving chapter in the workshop.

At the workshop's conclusion, Associate Professor Chen Yunwen connected theory and practice, sharing the CASEL (Social and Emotional Learning Framework) 2.0, emphasizing the importance of SEL (Social and Emotional Learning) for adults, encouraging teachers to give themselves more awareness, space, and time, and guiding them to consider how to integrate art, aesthetics, and social and emotional learning into the educational setting. Finally, the workshop concluded with a warm and touching end to the day's learning through the "Heart-to-Heart" emotion wheel teaching aid.
Through interdisciplinary aesthetic education and SEL, co-created learning not only touches the heart but also fills the educational scene with warmth.
