The 2023 Academic Year Interdisciplinary Aesthetic Education Outcome Presentation for the Kaohsiung-Pingtung Region was held at Chung Shan Industrial High School in Kaohsiung. Teachers from multiple schools in Kaohsiung and Pingtung gathered to share the results of their interdisciplinary aesthetic education courses. The event was opened by Professor Li Chi-chang, the project co-host, followed by a speech from Chung Shan Industrial High School Principal Li Yu-ping, who noted that aesthetic education not only showcases professional skills but also imbues education with a humanistic touch.

This presentation showcases how schools in Kaohsiung and Pingtung are developing diverse curricula that are interdisciplinary and locally connected, with aesthetic education at their core. The curriculum can be broadly categorized into four types: First, the integration of technology and art, such as Fushan Elementary School, Qishan Elementary School, Datong High School, and Chaozhou Junior High School, which use digital tools, sound creation, and new media technologies to deepen aesthetic experiences; Second, local culture and community exploration, such as Xinshang Elementary School, Linyuan Elementary School, Xiaogang High School, Hengchun Elementary School, Pingtung University Affiliated Elementary School, Dacheng Elementary School, Renai Elementary School, and Pingtung Science and Technology Experimental High School, which guide students to understand their hometown by starting from food, industry, history, and community; Third, natural ecology and sustainability practices, such as Zhongshan Industrial and Commercial High School, Caiwen Elementary School, and Jianguo Elementary School, which combine plant observation, circular design, and environmental education to cultivate sustainability literacy; Fourth, interdisciplinary inquiry and social concern, such as Fengshan Junior High School, Minzu Junior High School, Yangming Junior High School, and Yingming Junior High School, which integrate human rights, mathematics, science, and emotional education to enhance critical thinking and action skills; In addition, Xinzhuang High School explores natural science and artistic beauty through a mineral theme.

Each school showcased how art can connect sensory experiences with real-world learning scenarios, demonstrating how aesthetic education can be integrated into life, the land, and society in diverse ways. The presentations covered a wide range of areas, including music, technology, nature, ecology, local culture, sustainability issues, and SEL (Social and Emotional Learning). Through interdisciplinary courses, schools guided students to connect with life, the land, and social concerns, starting from their five senses, demonstrating the fruitful results of integrating aesthetic education into the classroom.

Finally, Professor Deng Zongsheng provided feedback, affirming the teaching practices and innovative energy of each school. In the afternoon, a wagashi (Japanese sweets) workshop was held. The smiles on the teachers' faces showed the joy that aesthetic creation brought them, bringing the sharing session to a warm and successful close.
