Yongxing Elementary School, Changhua County — The Taste of Home, The Eaves of Memory

1. Core Theme: Emotional Connection Starting with "Home"
Concept: The course does not start with abstract knowledge, but rather with "family experience" that students are most familiar with.
Practice: Connecting "memory", "taste" and "local culture", students enhance their emotional connection with their families and community by interviewing elders and exploring family stories.
2. Shift in teaching: From "learning through reading" to "learning through feeling"
Concept: By leveraging the school's existing strengths in reading, we aim to further guide students not only to absorb knowledge, but also to perceive life, understand culture, and take action.
Practice: Emphasizing both visual arts and narrative writing, enabling children to learn to "feel, understand, and act".
3. Cross-domain integration: the organic combination of five major aspects
Based on the design principles of the project proposal, this course integrates the following five aspects:
Aesthetics and Culture: Integrating written narratives, visual creations, and local community surveys for a unified expression.
SEL: Instilling self-awareness, social awareness, and interpersonal interaction skills to deepen students' emotional literacy.
Digital technology: Utilizing digital tools to aid in recording and creation, thereby enhancing digital literacy.
Local Practice: Stepping out of the classroom, practicing "learning through living," breaking down school barriers, and connecting with community resources.
Competency-oriented: Enabling students to "apply what they have learned" in fields such as language, art, and social studies.
4. Learning Path: The course systematically outlines a complete learning path, allowing skills to be gradually built up.
Roots-Tracing Interviews: Collecting stories and history of homes and houses.
Taste Memory: Recording the dishes and cooking process that represent the family.
Visual Recreation: The Artist's Taste and Memories of the Eaves.
Stepping out of the classroom: Drawing pictures of one's hometown and observing the environment (Action Art Class).
Performance Feedback: Sharing the results with the community through miniature cooking and storytelling.
