Lianxing Elementary School, Changhua County — Spring Comes to My Home

This course is designed for fourth-grade students and combines Chinese language and literature with arts and humanities. Through "New Year printmaking" as the core activity of interdisciplinary learning, it guides students from reading text to visual expression, deepening their understanding of cultural connotations and aesthetic experiences.

The course design starts from students' life experiences and festival culture. Through reading and discussing New Year-themed articles in Chinese language classes, students are guided to understand the origin, customs and emotional connotations of New Year greetings. Then, by combining the understanding and practice of printmaking media in the fields of art and humanities, students are assisted in transforming the textual images in language learning into concrete visual images, so that learning is not limited to the textual level, but can be put into actual creation, feeling and expression.

Throughout the learning process, the course emphasizes hands-on practice and aesthetic cultivation, allowing students to experience the complete creative process through printmaking steps such as composition, carving, and printing, thus fostering patience, focus, and creativity. Simultaneously, by combining Spring Festival couplet prints with festive culture, the course guides students to understand the connection between art and life, and to appreciate the continuation and transformation of traditional culture in contemporary life.

This course aims to cultivate students' ability to integrate language comprehension and artistic expression through interdisciplinary instructional design, and to build their confidence in creation, making learning a meaningful, engaging, and memorable experience.
