Ludong Elementary School, Lukang Township, Changhua County—The Seams of Time: Restoring Space, Sound, and Memory

I. Twin Cities Plan
Lukang is located by the sea and was originally a trading port. Last semester, a project was developed with "sea" as the theme. This semester, in addition to local research in Lukang, we went to Taichung. Through off-site teaching and immersive learning, we learned about the differences between the two cities through culture, art, architecture and nature. We also learned to empathize with and see the local context of others. Finally, we inspired children to realize that these are all precious cultural assets of Taiwan by participating in art activities.
II. Repair Concept
Destruction and disappearance are inevitable with time. Taiwan, situated at the junction of tectonic plates, experiences frequent crustal movements and has endured countless earthquakes that have torn the land apart. As prosperity fades, old houses will inevitably crumble. Under the trend of emerging technologies and AI, how can traditional crafts avoid being submerged by the tide? This course uses "Repairing the Seams of Time" as a cross-disciplinary aesthetic concept for a dual-city initiative, guiding students to understand how humanity, through architectural design, music, crafts, and visual arts, can reconnect fractured lands and reawaken forgotten memories. It guides students to understand how different art forms in both places heal the land, the space, and the human heart.
