Tainan Municipal Jiali Junior High School—Blooming Me: Abstract Temperature, Symmetrical Rhythm

This course, "Flowers Reveal Myself: Abstract Temperature, Symmetrical Rhythm," upholds the philosophy that "aesthetics are life, technology is expression," breaking down the boundaries of traditional disciplines. We guide children to blend the beauty of visual art, the symmetrical logic of mathematics, the principles of heat conduction in physics and chemistry, and the emotional verses of language. Through the use of everyday digital tools and AI, abstract geometric concepts in their minds are transformed into tangible flower boxes and gold-stamped designs, allowing them to personally experience how rational science and emotional art can perfectly blend in real-life objects.
I. From Sensory Exploration to Rational Construction
Continuing the previous exploration of self and culture, this course guides students toward "rational" visual expression. Through understanding abstract art, children learn to unravel complex emotions and simplify them into simple dots, lines, planes, and geometric blocks, allowing emotions to find a calming outlet within the regularity and order of the graphics.
II. Using Mathematics and Science as Tools for Creation
We break down disciplinary frameworks, transforming knowledge directly into tangible creative materials. Utilizing the mathematical concept of symmetry, students precisely design infinitely extendable four-dimensional continuous patterns, transforming them into exquisite wrapping paper strips resembling flower boxes. Simultaneously, combining physics and chemistry concepts, they use the physical property of carbon powder melting when heated to create shiny cards by hand, turning scientific principles into the most eye-catching embellishment in their handmade creations.
III. Technological Empowerment and Multi-Sensory Dynamic Performance
The presentation of aesthetics extends beyond two-dimensional design. The course incorporates AI-assisted creation, imbuing geometric flowers with their own unique poetic beauty; and uses PowerPoint combined with music and animation to transform static designs into vibrant videos. Finally, this audiovisual surprise is converted into a QR code, cleverly hidden inside the flower box, adding a multi-sensory interactive experience to the moment the box is opened, beyond just sight and touch.
IV. The Aesthetic Finishing Touch of Flower Box Packaging: Achieving Cross-Disciplinary Self-Expression
All the digital design and interdisciplinary knowledge were perfectly integrated into this "3D flower box." From measuring the dimensions and carefully pasting the continuous paper strips to arranging the internal graphics and text, the children folded intangible technology and abstract beauty into a warm and thoughtful gift, perfect for a Mother's Day thank-you or an end-of-term performance. In this process of deconstruction and reconstruction, they not only cultivated computational thinking but also learned to use a variety of media to confidently and warmly express their unique selves.
