Fuxing Elementary School, Keelung City—MAGIC's Journey to the West

1. Starting with the fifth-grade school-edited reading curriculum theme - Journey to the West, students will use existing shared reading materials and visual strategies to help them summarize the plot and character traits of important chapters. The "questioning method" will be used in conjunction with questions designed based on SDGs10 and SDGs5 to encourage students to rethink the thoughts behind the monsters' behavior, practice perspective-taking, cultivate empathy, and explore gender equality issues.
2. In the visual arts class, students redesigned the magical artifacts from Journey to the West using pixel clay and created introductory cards using Keynote. Next, in the information technology class, students were guided to use generative AI (Gemini, EdCafe) to revise their individual artifact designs and complete the explanatory text. Then, they used Canva to adjust the details of their designs, completing their individual artifact designs, and their artifact images were made into personal badges. Finally, students were guided to use Suno AI to create an introductory song for their artifacts based on their written explanatory text.
3. In conjunction with the "Imaginative Writing" lesson in Unit 4 of the Chinese Language textbook, set the scene in modern times and ask students to use the writing focus (special time and space environment, exciting and tortuous plot, vivid character images) to write a modern version of Journey to the West.
4. Utilize diverse digital tools or platforms, such as Keynote for creating flashcards, Xmind for drawing mind maps, Slido for asking questions in real time, and Padlet for recording students' learning progress, to showcase students' multimodal learning outcomes.
