Nei-an Elementary School, Tianzhong Township, Changhua County—Stop, look, and listen! What does the earth want to tell us?

Young children's learning is often intuitive and emotional. Therefore, we aim to guide children to stop and explore, to see with their eyes, hear with their ears, smell with their noses, and touch with their hands—to use their whole body to understand the land beneath their feet. We want them to view the natural scenery of the school from different perspectives, cultivate a habit of appreciating nature, and unleash their imagination to enrich their inner world through the earth. We hope to construct a complete interdisciplinary aesthetic education curriculum from "Observation → Feeling → Creation → Exploration," through reading, playing, and hands-on activities! Step by step, we guide students to build a deep connection with the land, nature, and art, starting from their life experiences.
Secondly, we hope to let children know that Tanaka is the hometown of rice. We take children to see the rice paddy scenery we pass by every day and introduce them to the Tanaka Scarecrow Art Festival, so that children feel that the course content is all around them and in their lives. In class, we let children play role-playing games, imagining themselves as "Mother Earth," and think from a different perspective, cleverly bringing in the environmental concepts of social-emotional learning (SEL) and sustainable development (SDGs).
Finally, this lesson not only teaches children how to appreciate spring, but also aims to guide them to think: "What does the earth want to tell us?" Then, they can use the act of protecting flowers and plants, or even the "Clean Plate Campaign" of finishing all their food at lunchtime, as the best and most beautiful way to give back to Mother Earth, planting the seeds of harmony with nature in their hearts from a young age.
