The Penghu region is characterized by an arid, windy, and saline climate, creating unique environmental conditions that have led to the evolution of local plants with drought, wind, and salt tolerance. However, most native plants lack economic value and are difficult to directly convert into usable resources. Furthermore, oyster farming, fishing, and agricultural activities in Penghu generate a large amount of waste byproducts, which, if not properly managed, can easily cause pollution of the land and marine environment.
Based on considerations of resource sustainability and environmental protection, this course centers on the concept of "resource reuse." Utilizing plants and discarded food items from the Penghu area that have no economic value, the course develops natural crayons that are both locally distinctive and educational, showcasing the sustainable spirit of "recycling waste." It provides a learning platform for students and the public to engage in environmental education and creative practice. The aim is to collaborate with industry professionals to create crayons that combine aesthetics, practicality, and collectible value, integrating art into daily life and making stationery not only functional but also fun and aesthetically pleasing.
