Fenggui Elementary School, Magong City, Penghu County—Marine Waste Recycling × Playful Creativity: An Interdisciplinary Aesthetic Course Observing Hometown and Digital Design

Penghu is surrounded by the sea, and the ocean is a familiar living space for students, as well as an important starting point for local culture and environmental education. This course focuses on the local marine environment and culture of Fenggui, starting from students' real-world experiences with marine debris and community life. Through the process of "observation, exploration, creation, translation, and sharing," it guides students to understand the relationship between human life, the marine environment, and local culture.
The course begins with an exploration of marine debris, guiding students to observe its materials, colors, and shapes. Through collage, they reconstruct a map of Penghu and create marine-themed food art pieces. This is further extended to bottle cap keychains, transforming waste into aesthetically pleasing and practical works. Students also engage with local communities to observe their hometown culture, photographing the unique features of Fenggui and Penghu. They then use ChatGPT to organize their observations and Canva to design a desk calendar.
This course emphasizes interdisciplinary integration and real-life practice, combining marine education, environmental education, visual arts, language expression, and digital design. It aims to cultivate students' aesthetic perception, hometown identity, environmental care, and digital application skills in the creative process, and to share their complete learning outcomes through exhibitions, QR code audio guides, and interactive experiences.
