By integrating science, geography, aesthetic education, and everyday technology, this course guides students to further understand "the inner workings of plants," "plant evolution," "plant materials," and "plant specimen design" by "seeing plants."
Students will engage in experiments such as plant chromatic aberration analysis, observation of ecological fossils, biomimetic plant design, and plaster casting.
The series of courses, including model making and epoxy resin preservation, aims to cultivate scientific inquiry skills, aesthetic literacy, and design thinking, and transform natural observations into artistic creations in daily life, deepening students' understanding of campus plants, ecological sustainability, and Taiwan's natural environment.
II. Domain Tasks
The four major fields jointly focus on "Nature Exploration × Aesthetic Design × Technological Practice × Sustainability Action".
At its core, the program guides students to start with campus plants and, through plant pigment analysis, exploration of the formation of Taiwan, biomimetic plant design, plant specimen preservation, and floral art creation, to complete a cross-disciplinary learning process that combines scientific knowledge, aesthetic appreciation, and innovative practical skills.
Through real-world scenarios and maker practices, students not only understand the wonders of nature and life, but also transform scientific observations into artistic creations, cultivating an attitude of respecting life, cherishing the environment, and focusing on sustainable development, demonstrating the core spirit of interdisciplinary aesthetic education: "learning by doing, creating by thinking, and creating beauty in the world."
1. Social Domain: The social domain, with geography as its main axis, guides students to understand the formation of Taiwan's islands and the evolution of its natural landscape, and establishes a connection between the environment and humanities by combining local rivers, ecology and fossils.
2. Natural Sciences: The natural sciences field focuses on biology and earth sciences, guiding students to understand the composition of plant life, the formation of plant pigments, and the geological evolution of Taiwan through experiments, observations, and explorations. This fosters scientific inquiry skills and transforms scientific knowledge into an important foundation for subsequent artistic creation.
3. Art Field: The art field focuses on education in natural aesthetics, guiding students to discover aesthetic elements from plant forms, plant colors, floral design, and natural composition, and then use different media to create works of art, transforming natural observations into works of art.
4. Science and Technology: The science and technology field focuses on everyday technology and material applications, guiding students to use the maker spirit to transform natural materials into works that are storable, displayable, and aesthetically pleasing, thereby cultivating design thinking and problem-solving abilities.
This course continues the achievements of the 114-1 "Strange Tales of Water" course, taking campus plants as a starting point to further explore the composition of plant life, natural evolution and geological changes, integrating biology, earth science, geography, art and life technology to build students' interdisciplinary inquiry abilities.
Students learn about plant life processes through plant pigment analysis, explore the formation process of Taiwan's islands through fossils from the Bazhang River, and transform natural observations into creative designs through maker courses such as plant biomimetic design, plaster casting, and plant specimen preservation. This cultivates a new generation of citizens with scientific inquiry, aesthetic thinking, and sustainable practice abilities.
With "aesthetic literacy orientation" and "interdisciplinary integrated learning" as its core spirit, the course emphasizes three major aspects: "curriculum transformation, local connection and student subjectivity". It integrates the connotations of visual arts, biology, society and technology to construct a contextual and exploratory learning process. The course takes the campus and community environment as the main learning venues, and guides students to understand the relationship between natural ecology, human history and life technology through observation, recording, analysis and creation, and cultivate aesthetic experience with both perception and critical thinking.
The instructional design emphasizes the learning process and hands-on experience. Through task-oriented and group collaboration models, it promotes students' active participation, interdisciplinary thinking, and problem-solving abilities, embodying the spirit of "learning by doing." The curriculum incorporates local cultural materials and sustainability issues, allowing students to discover the value of life and build a sense of identity from the context of life, and deepen their concern for the environment and society.
