Faced with increasingly complex teaching environments and teacher-student relationships, frontline teachers often find themselves struggling with isolation and burnout. Therefore, addressing the physical and mental well-being of teachers has become a crucial and unavoidable issue in the education field. The interdisciplinary aesthetic education program integrates the five core dimensions of SEL (Self-Learning Experience) to make art a medium for teachers and students to understand themselves, empathize with others, and engage in safe dialogue.
In this context, Ms. Lai Yu-hsuan and Professor Chen Yun-wen from Neili High School jointly developed the "Social Emotional Learning Navigation Card." By utilizing artistic creation and aesthetic experience, which naturally align with the characteristics of emotional disturbances and expression in SEL (Social Emotional Learning), the card guides teachers to identify their own emotions, manage stress, and find healthier and more positive coping mechanisms.
In addition to curriculum development, the Cross-Disciplinary Aesthetic Education Excellence Program also plans a series of socio-emotional learning workshops that combine art, performance and experiential activities to guide teachers to release stress through creation and interaction. At the same time, through on-site hands-on experiences, tests and feedback, it helps teachers build a network of mutual support and companionship.
Social-emotional learning is not just a subject for children. When teachers' emotions are also understood and supported, they can accompany students' growth with greater stability, making education a mutually beneficial process.
